KYOBASHI Armchair Won the “Best of the Best Award” in the Red Dot Design Award

2022.07.09

The Kyobashi armchair designed by Hiroshi Yoneya of TONERICO:INC. won the “Best of the Best Award” in the Red Dot Design Award: Product Design 2022, one of the three major design awards in the world.

The prototype for the Kyobashi chair was designed for the Artizon Museum of Art in Tokyo, which was renovated in 2020. Yoneya, who designed the building, sought a minimum presence and silence that comes from there. The chair’s backs are kept lower than table tops so that they do not make noise in the space even when lined up in large quantities. The design is universal and simple, yet the beautiful back is eye-catching.

Red Dot Design Award

The Red Dot Label has become established internationally as one of the most sought-after marks of quality for good design. In order to appraise the diversity in this field in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award breaks down into three disciplines. Competitions for each of these disciplines are held once every year.
