In Memoriam: Sture Eng, Designer

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sture Eng, who collaborated with CondeHouse on furniture design for many years. He passed away on October 17, 2026.

Over the decades, we developed many products together with Mr. Eng. Among them, RUNTOM, the first piece we created together, has stayed in production and been much loved for more than 50 years, and remains one of CondeHouse’s signature designs and enduring best sellers. In 2015, together with our founder Minoru Nagahara, he established the “Minoru Nagahara & Sture Eng Fund for Human Development.” Through the fund, he helped foster the next generation of craftspeople and artists in Hokkaido and supported their creative activities.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Djurgårdskyrkan (Djurgården Church) in Stockholm, Sweden.

We are deeply grateful for his great contribution to our furniture making over many years, and for the kindness he showed us throughout his life. We offer our heartfelt prayers that he may rest in peace.
