20 SPLINTER Armchair Nendo Celebrated Japanese studio Nendo – founded by Oki Sato in 2005 – is known for its minimalist designs, whose reduction belies the consideration and innovation they reflect. The Splinter Armchair, which comes in three versions – wood seat, upholstered seat, and full shell – is no exception. ‘We splintered each piece of wood as though peeling it away,’ says the designer, resulting in backrests that elegantly divide to become both armrests and legs, and create a harmonious whole.
